Who we are
Bircan Migration & Education (ABN 36 676 399 456) provides immigration assistance through registered migration agent Kenan Bircan (MARN 1463685). We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Code of Conduct for registered migration agents.
What we collect
We collect the information we need to advise you and act for you. This can include your name, contact details, date of birth, passport and visa details, family, education and work history, and documents you give us. For some matters, such as protection visas, we may collect sensitive information, including health information, religious or political beliefs, ethnic origin and criminal history. We collect sensitive information only with your consent and only when it is needed for your matter.
How we collect it
Usually directly from you: in consultations, by phone, email or through the enquiry form on this website. With your consent we may also collect information from others, such as family members, employers, translators or government agencies.
How we use it
We use your information to answer your enquiry, give you migration advice, prepare and lodge applications, correspond with the Department of Home Affairs, the Administrative Review Tribunal and other bodies on your behalf, keep records the law requires, and manage our fees.
Who we share it with
We disclose your information to the Department of Home Affairs, review bodies, courts and other parties only as needed for your matter and with your authority, or where the law requires it. We may share documents with accredited translators and other professionals working on your matter, who must keep them confidential. We do not sell your information.
Storage and security
We store records securely in paper and electronic form and keep them for the periods required by law. Some of our software providers may store data on servers outside Australia; where that happens we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected.
Website enquiries
When you send an enquiry through this website, your details are delivered to us by our form service and used only to reply to you and manage your enquiry.
Website statistics
We may use a privacy-friendly statistics service to count visits to pages on this website. It does not use cookies and does not identify you. If you choose a language other than English, the page text is sent to Google Translate to be translated, and a small cookie remembers your choice so that each page is translated.
Access, correction and complaints
